Chromecast Hidden Commands – If you want to get the most out of your Chromecast with Google TV, we show you some very useful voice commands that you can use.
It’s been a decade since Google released the first generation of Chromecast in 2013. Since then, buoyed by the success of the first generation Chromecast, Google has released several later models that added support for higher resolutions and new features ( although always there are alternatives ).
The last Chromecast product to launch was the Chromecast with Google TV, which was announced in September 2020, and, in 2022, introduced the budget version of its player with Google TV for €39.99.
Well, Chromecast with Google TV brings a remote to control the system with your voice through Google Assistant. Qualify that it is not like a smart speaker that is activated with a keyword, but we have to press the corresponding button on the remote to start listening.
At that moment we will be able to say certain orders or commands that will make life easier for many of us. Of course, for home automation, we will have to have the IoT devices synchronized with the Google Home account. Despite all this, today we want to bring you some commands that you probably did not know and that you can use on your device.
4 hidden voice commands on Chromecast that are useful
As we said, Chromecast has a series of abilities that are activated with voice commands, that you can use and that you will find useful, thus getting the most out of your device with remote control.
1. Rewind the series: it’s not something that happens regularly but who hasn’t happened to have been interrupted watching a series, for example, or has lost some important dialogue or even wants to see that scene again?
Of course, this is something you can do without any problem, rewind to where you want and that’s it. But of course, here we can use Google Assistant and it will only take a few seconds. Just say “Rewind 10 minutes” and the video will go back 10 minutes. Plus, you can also use it to go back to a specific timestamp just by telling it to.
2. That it broadcasts the images from your security camera: several smart security cameras on the market today are compatible with Google Assistant, so you can get even more out of it just by using your voice. And it is that, if you wish, you just have to say: “Show me the camera of the main door”, in the case of having several and your TV will reproduce the live transmission of the camera that you choose.
3. See the weather: another of the useful functions that it has is that, at any time, you can consult the weather status of your city or the place to which you are going to travel for the weekend.
Just by saying, “What’s the weather like?” or even “What will the weather be like this weekend in Madrid?” , in addition to verbally informing you of the information, it will also show the forecast on your television screen, with the temperature and weather forecasts for the next few days.
4. Show you certain photos: finally, if you want to take a look at the big screen of your saved photos, with Google Chromecast you only have to use your voice and say: “Show me my photos” and it starts playing them on your TV
Of course, it will show you the images that you have saved in Google Photos, and you can even indicate it, in case you have a specific folder organized, that the device directly shows you those photos.
With all this on the table, get the most out of your Chromecast with these voice commands, in addition to the ones we already know, and that, despite its low price, is a perfect amortization.
